Instead of hanging around Renmark waiting for the call on the wheel we travelled the 120 odd kilometres to Pinnaroo for a couple of days. John had read about how great the bakery was and had to try it out, not bad at all. This little town has a wetlands trail to walk and explore as well as an Emu and Kangaroo Park, two pubs and not much else. It was a nice way to wind down after all the fun at Renmark.
After resting up we were back on the move to Lameroo just a short 42 k's west of Pinnaroo (no I did not make up these names). Lameroo is famous for being the home town of entertainer and singer Julie Anthony. Since it was Mothers Day we walked down to the pub and had a couple of beers and a chat with the locals, after John cooked us a delicious dinner.
Next day we went to the museum. Entry is a gold coin donation, the place is run and organised by volunteers. It wasn't bad, just a small set up but we saw some stuff we hadn't seen in much bigger museums we have been to. We found out that Lameroo was once called Wow Wow Plain after a well was sunk in 1884 and was called Wow Wow Well. In 1904 the town changed its name after J. M. Johnston who had worked on the Overland Telegraph Line had heard of a place up in Darwin called Lameroo Beach and liked it.
