Patchewollock VIC

Seeing Wentworth in the rear vision mirrors we are off again this time to Patchewollock and the Patche Sunset Retreat, sounds classy eh! Before it was a retreat it started life as a combined school. Unfortunately like a lot of small schools the school closed down due to a decline in numbers, so the council turned it into a caravan park. What does bring people through these small towns is a number of them are on The Silo Trail. This trail consists of of a number of silo that have been painted with murals usually painted by local artists and attract travelers who stop and hopefully spend the night or just call into some of the shops while they are there.

We only spent one night at Patche as you can see the sights in a day and moved onto Rainbow, another dot town. Normally people flock to Lake Hindmarsh the main attraction there, not to far out of town, but due to the drought and very little rain over the last few years the lake has all but dried up. So sad to see, though the drought here has not been as harsh as inland NSW and QLD.
Camp this time was the old tennis courts, comfy enough, but made easier for us as we are self contained, the loos are in town and are about a 10 minute walk.
