Nyah VIC

Set up camp at Nyah at the Solar River Camp on the Murray River. This spot is only called the solar camp because there is a large open area with no trees, so plenty of sun for the solar panels. Caught up with washing and some running repairs and cleaning.

Next day we went to Nyah West (why not), had to wait around for 15 minutes for the pub to open at 2pm, so we strolled around town. There is not much left of the town these days, but apparently it is the back packers that keep the town going. Nyah and Nyah West are part of the huge agricultural centre growing everything from stone fruits, broccoli, nuts, grapes, cherries and strawberries just to name a few. The publican told us that the 42 rooms he has have has been full the last three years and there is a backpackers hostel over the road that has over 100 rooms and it too has been packed out.

On Tuesday we packed up and moved on to Manangatang Travelers Rest, just for the night. Tiny town, the liveliest place was the pub and that didn't open till 4pm! What kind of a town is this!! The truck drivers use this place to rest up and catch a few ZZZ's, which is fine until they start up their big rigs at 5am in the morning. Yaaah!!
