It was the day before Christmas and all through the park not a camper was stirring not even a lark. We were a a caravan park near Lake Lascelles, not right on the lake but only a 5 minute walk away. Virtually had the place to our selves as it seemed to be that the lake was the place to camp but boy was it crowded. We quickly got to work to dress up the van to make it fit for the festive season, we strung up lights and were going to put up a small tree but the wind was blowing to hard and knocked it over, no worries plan B came in to effect we decorated the stone guard at the front instead. It was pretty warm but not unbearable, but as soon as the sun went down out came the mozzies and not the pissy little ones either these buggers were mutant mozzies as far as mozzies go. So inside we went!
Christmas day had arrived and it had to be the most relaxed laid back chrissy I have ever had (sorry family) chilling out with a bottle of champers to start the day we made phone calls to family and friends and watched a movie. After a fantastic feed of prawns for lunch (just because we are tripping around doesn't mean you can't spoil ourselves every now and then) we jumped in the truck to see what was happening around the lake, it was pretty packed with ski boat and kids getting towed around on the back as well as small and large family gatherings, we were glad to be where we were. Night fell and the mozzies returned in force. So inside we went again!
Boxing Day we had a lazy start with all the mucking about for Christmas we needed time to recharge the batteries. We hopped in the truck to take the tour around town, 10 minutes later we had seen it all. It was a bit cooler and much more pleasant to sit outside. As time ticked by more vans arrived some passing us by, others pulling in and setting up. As the afternoon progressed a couple of guys came over and we had a couple of beers with them and talked a load of crap. The darkness approached with an entourage of mozzies, so I went inside, it only took 10 minutes before the call went up me to rejoin them so I could draw the biting pests away from the men folk, after my refusal they left and John came inside, didn't see that coming!
