The Mighty Murray VIC

Cool but beautiful sunny day, heading for the Murray River, we stopped at Glenrowan for morning tea. Steeped in history and the legend of Ned Kelly, he was everywhere we even met a live Ned as he and three others pulled in on their motorbikes for the same reason we did. Nice bunch of blokes and were quite happy to let us take some snaps of the bikes. Back on the road we stopped at a 24 hour stay at Ludlow on the Hume Weir fed by the Murray. That night we had a beautiful sun set, not to be out down the moon rose to its fullest, wow. The sun slightly put out by this put on an awsome sun rise.
Friday still chasing the mighty Murray we found a not so crowded camping site at Granthams Bend. With all the free camping sites on the river you could easily be spoiled for choice, we set up with a nice river view and wound down to stay a few nights. Being Friday is pub night we went to the nearest one at Wahgunyah.
Saturday morning came with alight breeze so we caught up with the washing, all good until another camper thought camping right next to us, less than three metres away was quite acceptable.
It was 1.30pm and we decided to move on. Further up the river we found Forges Beach No1 camp ground near Yarrawonga about an hours drive from where we were. Some sections a little crowded but we found another good spot once again on the river and set up. Next day we went into town for the markets and to replenish our food supplies.
Monday we packed up camp and explored further up the river and found yet another top spot at Big Toms Beach (buggered if I know where they get the names from). Got the best neighbours, two Koalas, never seen them in the wild before. What a blast.
Tuesday we were invited for drinks with another camp and had a lot of fun exchanging info with plenty of banter.
The next day was our turn to play host but only the guy turned up as his wife was worried about their two boxer dogs so she stayed at their camp with them.
Thursday we were looking through our contacts and discovered that Wayne and Bess live in Cobram not 15 minutes drive from where we were camped. We met Wayne and Bess when we were travelling through Queensland and always said we would keep in touch, so that afternoon they came to our camp. With all the hugs and kisses out of the way we settled down to play catch up. Soooo much to catch up on they didn't leave till about 9pm. Boy what a late tea we had!
