Set off on the Monday about 10am and set our sights on Merton Racecourse. Payment was by donation and you could stay up to three days. Nice BBQ area under a large shelter and clean flushing toots. No power or water. We were the only ones there for the first night, the locals know the toilets are there and are used quite frequently during the day so we felt quite safe.
Had a plan to stay for the three days, but that changed when a guy turned up with a trailer full of swags, sleeping bags, tents and the like, informed us that 40 young push bike riders would be staying overnight. It was quickly decided that we would change our plans and wouldn't be sticking around.

It took us all of 15 minutes once we decided which way we were going, to hitch up, pack up and be on the road. Destination Benalla. We stopped at Mansfield for a coffee and morning tea plus a carton of beer, then back on the road to beautiful Benalla.
