Made it to Benalla and stayed at the showground with a $12.00 a night payment going to the Men's Shed. We dropped into the Info Centre and was given a booklet and map to walk around town to see the vast display of murals painted by various artists on walls, skate ramps and any other flat, square or round surface. There were so many of them we probably missed some.
First night at the showground there was us, one other van and a pop-top mini bus.
Wednesday morning arrived and was warm and sunny, what a lovely day to do some sight seeing. We went to the Winton Wetlands that weren't so wet, it apparently hinges on rainfall and with the drought rain has been scarce.
We visited Devenish to look at the art work that has been painted on the now no longer used grain silo. This one depicted the different clothes and roles nurses of the First World War wore and did to the nurses of today wear and do. Next stop was Goorambat, they had a silo painted as well one was an owl and the other had a farm scene, it is truly amazing to see these works of art when you consider the size of the canvas they use.
Back to Benalla for one more night, someone must have let the cat out of the bag because we had eight vans of various sizes and shapes. Everyone was friendly chatting in groups. Nice way to end this leg of our trip.
