This leg of the trip was a lot longer a little over 400 kms. All dirt, bull dust and you guessed it corrugations. After 5 hours of driving we called it quits about the 400k mark, found somewhere to pull off the road and set up camp. Lovely place except the burrs. We had a camp fire and a few drinks and lots of laughs, who needs TV. Rose early the next day and continued our journey.
Made it to Innamincka. Only took us 3 hours of the same road conditions as yesterday. Camping at the common area, not bad, lots of trees for shade and right on Coopers Creek. Last time we were here, 32 years ago, we met an old guy who worked at the Moomba gas and oil fields. After quite a number of beers he took us to a camp spot he liked to go to. Some how we found that spot and not a lot has changed. The Innamincka Hotel that we had the quite a few beers in has changed, for the better I think but the pub of old had a bit more character. We ventured out to the famous Bourke and Wills dig tree. To be honest we were a bit disapointed as you could not see the instructions that were carved into the tree at all. Got slugged 10 bucks as well.
