Moved on to Bedourie, heading south. On the way there about half way we came across the Vaughan Johnson Lookout, what a view. It is affectionately called the loo with a view. No worries if you want to have a BBQ but I'm not sure how much wood you will need to heat the inch thick massive size plate. Not too bad at the camp opposite the roadhouse. $10.00 a night non-powered but does have toots and showers. With water available we took advantage and did a load of washing. The highlights of this small and proud town are the original cop shop which pretty much is a tin shed as is the Generator shed when the town first got electricity in 1936, a small house called the mud hut which dates back to the 1880's as does the Bedourie hotel formally known as The Royal. We had lunch on Saturday at the pub, both of us had Camel pies with a beer of course. Very tasty, it was a first again for both of us, the pies not the beers, but those who know us would know this. Tomorrow we are off to Birdsville.
