Well a different town, shops boarded up bars on others, well we are here not going to travel any further so we went to the Kidmans Camp Country Resort in North Bourke well what a nice place mind you the place could hold 100+ vans and only us and one other there. Checked in for 3 days so we could recover from the trip from Broken Hill.
One street we drove down had a number of homes burnt down and according to some locals crime is increasing with the older ones using small kids to gain access and steal so the cops cant touch them. The state government has a 250 km alcohol restrictions including what can be sold and when it can be sold also the amount that can be brought into the town each week by the shops and pubs.
What does it mean, well we could not buy any wine greater then 2 Ltrs and only one at a time. Our choices were very limited as well, so we bought it. The boss was not happy as her wine was not available.
Reading about the steam paddle steamers that was the main source to transport up and down the river was very interesting.

The weir down stream on the left hand side is the "lock" used for the boats to get around the weir in the old days. |
