First Stop Coopernook State Forest large area with lots of vans here tonight bit cold and overcast.
Good trip from Sydney but took 1 hr to get to the freeway. Gotta love traffic😣

Armatree NSW

The Armatree Pub and the farming equipment and supply store next door are the only ones doing any trade in this town, with a population of 153 not many businesses can stay open. The pub has a site off to one side and toward the back of the pub where campers can stay for free, the bonus was with boar water available we had green grass to park on, we have set up camp with so many sites of just dirt. We were greeted by our host Ash and Lib and the pub dog Nellie who last year took out the top gong for best NSW bush pub. These guys have put a lot of work to this pub having built a large undercover out door area out the back and have hosted several parties and weddings as well as bands and entertainers. They are hosting a comedy night with some big names and are expecting 200 strong crowd. Mount Hope & Cobar NSW

We all said good bye and we headed to Mount Hope. What can I say about this town? I'm not even sure whether it is a town or a locality. There is a community Hall with a sculpture of a cow made from recycled materials, a truck stop and the Royal Hotel, the sad part about the Pub is it doesn't open on a Monday, guess what day we were there. This stop was just an overnight stay but the camp ground behind the pub was huge, you could easily fit 80 to 100 vans in. New aerial for broadband reception From Mount Hope we hit the road and wound up at Cobar, we checked out a free camp just out of town, but the burnt out wrecked car and the tire tracks surrounding it turned us off. Langhorne Creek SA

We are traveling south west this time to a not to small camp called Frank Potts Reserve. This spot has its own history. Frank Potts was the first person to purchase a parcel of land here and when he passed away he left the land where the reserve is to the council and it is now a 72 hour donation camp ground with plenty off room to spread out. Since we tracked the Murray River most of the way it would be impossible for John not to go to where the Murray and the Southern Ocean meet, known as the Mouth of the Murray. Not far from the mouth is the Goolwa Barrages compromising of five barrage structures in the channel separating Lake Alexandria from the sea at the mouth of the River Murray. They were constructed in order firstly reduce the salinity levels in the lower reaches of the River Murray, Lake Alexandria and Lake Albert and secondly to stabilize the river level, for both upstream irrigation and pumping.
